The hot springs have become one of the main tourist attractions that people can enjoy after spending energy climbing the Mount Batur and give themselves a treat. Find out more about the natural hot springs of Mount Batur in this following article.
Where Are They Exactly?
The natural hot springs of Mount Batur are located a Toya Bongkah Village which lies at the base of the mountain. The natural environment of the village which surrounded by forests and green rice fields offer a number of springs that heated geothermally.
Visiting the Mount Batur hot springs can be a perfect way to looses your tired muscles after spending hours climbing the active volcano. It is quite easy to reach the hot springs site. You only need about 2 hours of driving from Ngurah Rai International Airport, Denpasar. Once you reach the natural hot springs area, you will be soon welcomed by the friendly small-town atmosphere of the village. The air is still fresh and clean and the scenery around the springs are really wonderful. You can see the magnificent views around the Mount Batur while soaking in the natural hot water.
Toya Bungkah Hot Springs
Giving yourself a treat after climbing the Mount Batur height is really a great idea and Toya Bungkah hot spring will be the rightest place to choose. Being named after the village where the hot springs found, Toya Bungkah comes with many interesting things to offer to the visitor. Unlike the other hot spring commonly found around an active volcano, the hot springs in Toya Bungkah Village are not influenced by the scent of the sulphuric compound produced by Mount Batur. The spring water is without any sulphuric odor and it is relatively clear.
Another thing that has attracted many tourists both local and international to come to Mount Batur hot springs is the fact that the water can heal several kinds of disease, especially skin problems. Local people claim that soaking or bathing in the hot water will make your skin fresher, healthier, and look younger. Well, this is not surprising nor associated with mystical things. The hot water in Toya Bungkah natural springs is rich of minerals that are good for skin health. In addition, the sulphuric compound found in the water is also clinically proved to be a good source for skin problem remedies.
The Mount Batur trekking companies found in Ubud always include this natural hot spring into their tour package due to some reasons. Being run by the local community, this site really reflects the hospitality of local people along with their traditions and culture. The temperature of the area that can reach 400C makes it very exciting to soak in the hot pool. If you are hungry, there are many restaurants and food stalls where you can taste delicious local cuisines. You can also enjoy the iconic menu of the local community made of freshwater fish grills while enjoying the magnificent view surrounded the mountain.
The best time to visit the hot springs is around April to September when the Mount Batur weather is still perfect for hot water bathing or trekking. Bali is usually in the dry season during the months. Soaking in the natural hot water will be a great experience to have. You can feel an unusual sensation of feeling the hot water in the chilly atmosphere. The temperatures of the water usually range from lukewarm to a bit hotter. The best time to soak in the hot pool is early in the morning since the water usually gets warmer at that time. However, it is best to keep in mind that though you find that Toya Bungkah hot water is named hot natural springs, there will be natural pools since they are entirely tiled for visitors’ sake.
Devasya Natural Hot Spring
If you need something else as an alternative for Mount Batur hot springs, Toya Devasya. The natural hot spring is also located on the slope of Mount Batur. Just like the Toya Bungkah, the Toya Devasya also comes with a great view and infinity pools to offer to the tourists. However, the resort is relatively cheaper if compared to Toya Bungkah. The site is also smaller to provide more privacy to the visitors. In addition, the resort is also designed to look “more local” than its competitors and located closer to the mountain if compared to Toya Bungkah.
Toya Devasya Mount Batur hot springs were renovated for the last time in 2016 so that the overall construction of the site is relatively new. This new design of the hot springs site provides the segregation between the foreign section and local section. This is to accommodate two groups come from different culture and habit so they will feel more comfortable when bathing. It leads the differentiation in prices and facilities for the two groups. The resort also separates restaurants, toilets, and change facilities between the two groups. The segregation still makes it possible for international tourists to mingle with the local people in the hot springs. However, the local people are not allowed to come to the foreigner section. Both the groups will be able to enjoy clean hot pools when they need manicured grounds. They can also enjoy a cool swimming pool in almost regular size of Olympian if they need to after the Mount Batur sunrise trekking Ubud.

An epic hike up a dormant volcano
An unforgettable adventure hiking up a dormant volcano, where the sunrise will take your breath away! This is truly one of the most awe-inspiring sunrises you'll ever witness. There’s a shimmering lake, with hundreds of rice paddies sparkling as the sunlight streams in. It's a magical experience perfect for couples seeking romance or a group looking to share an extraordinary moment.

Colazione con the dolci e uova. Tutto perfetto! Grazie mille!

A hike of a lifetime
The sunrise trek exceeded all expectations - it was spectacular to see the first breaks of light of the sun as we climbed higher and higher. We saw the sun come up as we reached the summit and it was incredible! We went as a family with three kids, aged 7 and 10. Our kids have done many hikes but we weren’t sure how this would go so we opted for the jeep/trek combo. The trek itself was challenging - the first half is gravel, lava rocks and sand with steep inclines - but our guide, Adi was amazing and encouraged and motivated us. One of our kids needed extra cheering on, and Adi helped us boost her so she felt like a true mountain girl when she reached the top. There were lots of places to stop and rest and Adi provided headlamps, trekking poles and lots of water. He really looked after us and we are so grateful to have had him as our guide. At the top, we could take in the beautiful scenery and watch the sun come up over the crater lake. Adi brought us coffee and hot chocolate along with sandwiches, chocolates, fruit and boiled eggs. After our hike down, we took the jeeps back to the parking lot where we took a short ride to the hot springs. The water slides were a bonus for the kids! The whole experience was so memorable - we are so happy we did it! We absolutely would recommend this adventure with this outfit.

Amazing views, amazing guide, amazing memories
The 1:30 taxi pickup filled us with dread, but the minute we began walking we realised how special this morning would be. We seamlessly were connected to our guide Jata and began walking through the forest. Although one of us was scared of potential bugs, there were thankfully none to be seen on the path, none at all! We kept following the trail of head torches up to the top where we stopped after around 2 hours (about 5 o’clock) in the best seats in the house. Tip: bring a hoody/fleese we were freezing in T-shirts! During and after the spectacular sunrise our guide took some amazing photos on our phones we were blown away. He cooked a breakfast of eggs and banana sandwiches and took us into the steaming volcano, then we began our descent back down. This was when we were able to talk to our guide more and find out more about what life was like living in rural Bali, and he was really knowledgable about the local wildlife and area. We got back to the car, exchanged details with Jata and travelled the long journey back to Nusa Dua with an amazing story to tell our family and friends. I could not recommend this morning for able-bodied travellers enough: perfect!!!

Must do trip in Bali
Trekking was such a great experience. Difficult hike however there were options for if you couldn’t make it all the way to the top. It was very worth it when the sun came up, so beautiful and magical. It was a seamless itinerary, planned appropriately for the sunrise. With food and trekking guide included. Our guide Donnn was amazing organising transfers to the top of for 2 members of our group. Also teaching us about the Balinese culture and nature also taking photos when needed. We throughly appreciate Donnns services. The sunrise was incredible! Must do trip in Bali!

Great company to take you sunrise watching
We booked a sunrise Jeep tour with black sand and lava before arriving to Bali. Teh communication was great, price was very fair. We were picked up on the day when we were told. Relaxing driver to the parking lot, transferred to a jeep and taken to the viewing spot. Also got a small breakfast - sandwiches, tea, fruit and candy. Later we were taken to black sand and lava field where we were explained some things by our driver. Taken back to teh parkin gand trasferred to a car to be dropped off at the hotel. A great experience with the company. The only thing that I was let down by was the sunrise itself - nothing extremelly special, really.
